SUMMARY:2025 NHLA Summer Plant Identification Course
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER ONLINE TODAY for the 2025 NHLA Plant ID Summer Course. Class meets Tuesdays\, June 10 – September 9\, 5-8 pm.\n\nClasses will be held at nurseries\, parks and estates in NH\, central to the majority of participants. Past classes have been held in the Concord & Seacoast areas. Once you have registered\, you will be informed of the sites.\n\nOver 250 woody and herbaceous plants will be reviewed in the course\, roughly 18-20 plants per week. Quizzes will be held weekly to review the identification\, common name and scientific name of the plants covered. The plant list is posted on the NHLA website.  Registration and additional information can be found on the NHLA Website.

SUMMARY:Tree and Shrub Renovation Pruning for Tree Care and Landscape Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Led by NH certified arborist and a board-certified master arborist\, Lee Gilman\, this hands-on training will guide participants through: \n\nhow to differentiate between maintenance pruning and renovation pruning\nhow to grade the structure and form of trees and shrubs\nhow to prioritize the most beneficial and efficient pruning opportunities\nhow pruning cut choices impact plant health\, structure\, and growth response over time\n\nThis session provides a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience\, with guidance from arborists and UNH Extension pruning mentors.  We’ll spend approximately one hour indoors discussing pruning concepts and standards\, then we’ll move outdoors for hands-on learning and demonstration\, working within the ANSI A300 Part 1 standards. \nParticipants should bring their own pruning equipment\, including hand pruners\, loppers\, and pruning saws. A limited number of loaner tools will be available. The majority of this session will be held outdoors. Please dress for the weather and bring water. \nRegistration  \n$60 per person \n4 ISA CEU’s and 4 pesticide recertification credits pending \nContact Amy.Papineau@unh.edu with any questions. \nThis event is hosted by UNH Extension and the New Hampshire Arborists Association\, in collaboration with The New Hampshire Landscape Association.

This hands-on evening\nwill showcase their fully electric lineup\, including commercial mowers from\nMean Green Mowers\, battery-powered handheld equipment from Kress\, and the\ninnovative solar-powered Mow Truck from Super LawnTruck. You’ll hear\ndirectly from their team about the real-world pros and cons of using\nelectric equipment\, along with the reasons behind their decision to make the\nswitch. Representatives from Ready Equipment and Mean Green Mowers will be\non-site with demo equipment\, giving you a chance to test it on a custom\nobstacle course and dive into the technical details with industry experts.\nWhether you’re curious about going electric or ready to make the move\, this\nis your opportunity to see the latest tools in action and learn from those\nalready putting them to work. \nExperience the Industry! Landscape After Hours (LAH) are free events that\nprovide opportunities for landscape professionals to get together in a\ncasual atmosphere while getting out and seeing interesting and innovative\nprojects\, sites\, and services in NH’s Green Industry.
